Meet Dan Stephens: LDR’s Newest Associate

Meet Dan Stephens, LDR’s newest Associate. Dan comes to LDR from Nucor Steel, where he was a process engineer overseeing process improvements and project management in a Hot Strip Mill. Dan is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and currently pursuing his MBA from the University of North Carolina, as well as finishing his CFA certification. Dan also served as a United States Army Infantry Officer for ten years, where he deployed overseas multiple times to Iraq and Kosovo.

“LDR is very excited to have somebody as accomplished as Dan joining our team.” Will Brame, Principal of LDR stated, “Dan brings a dynamic skillset and diverse experiences that will add immense benefits to our team and the clients we serve.”

To learn more about Dan we sat down and asked him some additional questions…

How Were You Introduced to LDR?

Seth, LDR’s Director of Operations, introduced me to the company.  Seth and I commanded the same unit at Fort Hood, TX and kept in touch as we both left the active duty Army.

What Kind of Experience Do You Bring with You To LDR?

While serving in the Army, I developed a great deal of experience managing multi-functional teams and employing innovative, agile management techniques to empower teams to solve culturally-complex problems.  With Nucor, I was exposed to process and mathematical challenges, and worked with small teams to improve the overall performance of an integrated production line.  These efforts are no different in scope to what many businesses leverage to prevent disruption from emerging technologies.

What Traits Do You Think Will Make You Successful on the LDR Team?

I firmly believe that business thrive when they put people first. I enjoy meeting new types of people who can bring diverse backgrounds to innovate and develop novel solutions.  My experience, both in the Army and with Nucor, allowed me to hone these skills.

Every Morning, What Motivates You to Get Out of Bed?

I am motivated to serve our clients and fellow LDR teammates by bringing together their experience and subject matter expertise to develop innovative solutions throughout our clients’ industries.

What Led You to Ultimately Pick LDR?

I love LDR’s company culture. When I visited LDR’s office for my interview, the day started playing Spikeball on the National Mall. Right then I knew something was different about this company. I also love LDR’s agile mindset and the company’s passion for continuously finding new ways to better serve their clients.
